Motivation

Getting Started

Zig Ziglar, noted author and speaker, advises people in his seminars to use positive self-talk regularly and often. In his book Over the Top, he gives the following two-step example.Step 1: Write this statement on an index card:
I, (name), am an honest, intelligent, responsible, organized, goal-setting, committed individual whose priorities are firmly in place. I am a focused, disciplined, enthusiastic, positive-thinking, decisive extra-miler who is a competent energized, self-starting team player determined to develop and use all of the qualities in my personal, family, and business life. These are the qualities of the winner I was born to be.
Step 2: Read this statement two or more times each day. Stand in front of a mirror, if possible and practical, looking yourself in the eye as you read it.

Now what does this have to do with exercise and fitness? Self-talk is where you main motivation will come from; it is the gadget that gets you started each day! Write out your very own self talk statement and use it - everyday.
I spent a fortune
On a trampoline,
A stationary bike
And a rowing machine
Complete with gadgets
To read my pulse,
And gadgets to prove
My progress results,
And others to show
The miles I've charted –
But they left off the gadget
To get me started!
